Guinevere's sonnet
King Arthur, in the middle of the night,
Slept heavily while dreaming of his sword,
While Guinevere was thinking that she might
Wake Lancelot and flee with him abroad.
She rose and paced around the bedroom floor
Could she not be content with what she'd got?
Her inner voice said no, she wanted more
Because she loved her Lancelot a lot.
Desire drove her to the bedroom door
But not through it to her lover's room above
She couldn't contemplate that corridor
Within the binding bounds of courtly love
So thinking twice she turned around to creep
Back to her bed, another knightless sleep.
