14th March

Today is 14th March
My 69th birthday.
No one cares
Except me myself.
I drink a cup of tea
In dark and silence.
I leave a bowl of water
On the porch
For sparrows that come to
cool their wings.
I comb my dying hair
And feel its rough texture.
Look at the ring
On my wrinkled finger.
It takes me back to my wedding day.
Where I am young and happy
To be in his arms
The reverie brings
Faint smile on my face.
Two sparrows chrip
I glance at them
Playing near the bowl.
I miss my man.
We would have shared this day
Had he been alive today.
I let the silence engulf me
And let my legs guide me
through the small trail
Where we used to walk together.
I know I will be
Walking through this trail again
In the cold winter morning
On his 70th birthday.
In the cold winter morning

Great imagery
You have a way with imagery. Keep it up!
Just a tidbit, It would look better as no one cares. And prehaps lose the myself.

Gentle, poignant memories,
Gentle, poignant memories, balanced by the pleasure in watching the sparrows. Rhiannon
