Between the wolf and girl
is a hummingbird encased in red feathers,
it claws at itself,
shredding its feathers into its nest.
Crying out as though it is caught in a nightmare.
I can trace the circulation from its small black
eye all the way down to its heart,
a mulberry dot to dot trail stretching across its stomach.
I trace it with my tounge,
the hummingbird falls silent, his wings settle and flash
once again, pastel blue.
I satisfy the scream inside my throat
and claw the hair off from my head.

I like this, Beeme, the language is effective and the situation itself is ambiguous and thought provoking.
