Starry night

Oh great leveller
I watched you sail
through the rivers of Heades
today

I marked your course
and tracked your wake
through reflected stars
on a rippled river sky

tranquil silent stops
replacing old stars, and sometimes
new ones
like light globes on the ceiling
of a vast ancient tomb

and as I logged your course
from the banks and dry places
searching for rhyme to your rythym,
and reason in your eyes

the wind slowly changed

and I ran
lest you look my way
