Four - Her amber eyes

I remember how it all unfolded like I know it should have been.
Except when I didn't say goodbye, and you walked away from me.
Teach the world to sing or draw, and I'll teach the world to play.
Teach the world to laugh and drink, and fight against the day.
I hope you stay that pretty,
I hope you stay that way.
I hope you stay that funny,
But change your slutty ways.
I told you “I'm an alcoholic,”
Just to pass the time.
You told me I could trust you.
“Dishonest people don't lie.”
We need a way for the pacifist among our living days
To be made a gentle fascist and us her willing slaves.
If you're a slave, could you fight against the machine?
Would you die to save a queen?
Would you wage a war against the law
If you thought that it was for peace?
Have you read the news today? Do you think it'll be ok?
Every page is exactly the same: Another war with the USA.
Look at what we have become and
The madness we have done,
The wars that we have fought and
All the battles lost and won.
The ways that we have lived, the ways we have to die.
The things that we are told, all the truth and the lies.
You can't tell me that this is the way to live,
That this is the way to die
This is way mankind’s life was meant to be
When we fell from the sky.
We're all content in the gaze
Of the skulls of every slave,
And all the empty aspirations of
A temporary sage
We stare in wonder at the past
And we all stand amazed
At the servile silent banter of
The desolate dark grave
Of all the forgotten slaves and of the freedom fighting braves.
And the fickle fascination with the love that we all crave
of the ways we have to live and the ways we have to die
Hurt yourself but don’t ask why
everyone is going to die
Its elaboration time
Look at what you didn’t say.
“There’s nothing in the world,”
The politicians pray.
Obedience is taught
To be a valued skill,
While military men
Teach us brand new ways to kill.
