the grass stretches to the horizon
green blends with brown
a distant herd of bison
brilliant flowers dot the plain
down by a trickling stream
all beneath the eye
of a friendly white cloud

Pennyless and stupid
a man stumbles into view
trampling the grasses
and scattering the dew
greedily eyeing the buffalo
massive and ambling
he shoulders his rifle
