Does being greedy and envious make us so blind?

We have all got a problem to share,
We have all been treated unfair,
Yes us living under slated roofs,
Free from insects in our cosy booths,
Tired from the shopping that we did on line,
Ratty that we got up too early at a quarter past nine,
Oh my, we couldn't find our favourite microwave dish,
And getting richer and lazier is our only wish.
Is this really the way we should live?
To be greedy and selfish and lazy and ill?
Please can you cast me back a thousand years,
To when the land was diseased and war torn,
Getting up at the crack of dawn to catch the early bird,
And if you are lucky you might get to see a new dawn.
There would be no need to be angry at the lack of signal,
From your micro sized Japanese mobile toy,
Nothing to wish for except your next meal,
No traffic, no noise, no plastic, oh boy.
It makes me sick when I see people complain,
In this high raised modernised cess pit,
Everybody wishes for something they cannot have,
Do we all want to be like Pamela Anderson or Brad Pitt?
So why cannot we be happy with what we find?
Does being greedy and envious make us so blind?
