Particularly because of my childhood
I am want
to kiss your shoulder
and squeeze your hand. Particularly
because of my childhood
I am a rock
in the bedroom
and on the bathroom floor.
I never change my mind.
I never learn.
My childhood, particularly, was a time
of great wealth and opportunity.
My childhood was full of perfect evenings.
I, particularly, remember the first time
we kissed and even then – your shoulder,
a squeeze but more deliberate,
the bed side lamp on
and a sense of achievement.
To have a childhood at all, I think,
is something to hold up.
