She bends over the Speed Queen
and becomes Miss America.
Outside Men, we watch, enrapt;
Mostly yellow, brown and darker.
I'm the pale one, out of place.
They wonder why I've left the table;
They would not, had they my face.
I hear English, I hear Spanish;
Understand so little of both.
Sweat beads on the flesh of Miss America.
We Outside Men all watch, engrossed.
