Tangents

It is harder in the dark,
When lamp-posts are recklessly placed lighthouses
And a bus-stop is the brink.
Tangents jump over obstacles quick as the eye,
Run up, then down buildings,
Spar with rooves for the intimacy of night.
She knows the world shouldn't
Rattle this loud, it doesn't really tremble,
You can't always have
An erratic black shadow behind, out of periphery.
Wants to dismount, tangent an adventure.
Lose it in dangerous alleyways,
Down the forbidden sides of office blocks,
Drawn by the lure of yellow carpark lights
On water pouched tarmac, the grease, the shine.
Someone she would stumble to in a dark crescent
Will disembody her, possess her howl.
Tangents kill for power, to hear a plea.
She does not understand pleas,
Would shush them to take it,
Make a slit and let it seep out of her,
And then they wouldn't want it all.
