From Alexandrite’s hall, Azur could see the mobilization going as planned. But everything she could think of now was what this pale enemy could be.
It attacked Semrros, one of her older Shadow Krygnym, that could only mean that their enemy can use powerful magic. It was big, strong and its presence was terrifying, was what she deduced from the stomping and the animals fleeing.
There was another pale enemy a couple of years ago, the Phantom Dragolisk. If it is the same this time then she could only assume that It’ll be a vicious and cunning enemy. Not to mention its speed and it “Appearing out of nowhere” as described by the brothers who had the bad luck of running into it.
“(That’s not it...)” Azur ‘s sixth sense told her that, which didn’t really make her calm down.
After a couple of minutes, she took a deep breath and transformed the little shard on her hand to its original form “The Trident of Alexandrite” with this a couple of the inhabitants that were still running for the shelter stood to look at their leader.
Some steps later she told everyone to get to safety, that she and her troops will take care of ‘this’, with that they smiled and kept moving.
On her way to where a little meeting was taking place, she met with Ephiri, her younger sister. She wasn’t supposed to be here, she was to stay at reinforcing the shelter and to stay close by it.
“Sis, what is happening!” Ephi was really worried.
“I have no time for this, go back to the shelter and wait there!” and order as the Chieftess, not as her sister.
“Lady Suxuq is taking care of the buffs and told me to hurry and get her the details” Azur could tell that Ephiri wasn’t being completely honest with her words, but couldn’t help it, she was in a hurry after all.
“Fine! Let’s hurry to the meeting” another order which Ephiri followed and both started fast walking towards the edge of the village and the place where Rekzot the General, Aquara the Spotted, the Brothers Mavlov and Brey were at already.
A nearby hut owned by one of the inhabitants was used for this reunion of elites, barely any furniture was on the house, a pair of small beds put together and an even smaller table that was on the side of them was moved for Ephiri to use as a seat.
“What we got Rek?” as soon as Azur entered the hut, she was already giving orders. “Aqua, watch the door”
“Huh? Why?” Aquara confused complied instantly and silently the moment she met with Azur’s deadly gaze.
“Now, Rekzot, Semrros, what is that we got on this thing?” now on her seat, Azur demanded the details.
“For what the reconnaisssance sssaw itsss about four to five metersss tall.”
“And I got some sort of weird trail from where it was when we first saw it.”
“And?"
“Is... difficult to explain” Rekzot seemed confused “It banished before our eyes...”
“What do you-” Brey tried to jump in.
“Shut” Azur ordered the younger brother “Elaborate, Rek” Azur was dead serious.
“Yes, as I was saying” Rekzot took a short second to think “the trail was disappearing, like it was never there... like... a cut from a tree, just a normal tree, it was closing back, like being healed or the big rock that was destroyed because of the attack at Semrros, was completely fine when we went to investigate”
“I see...” Azur got lost in thought “(An illusion? A highly skilled spellcaster that can cast illusions? four meters tall one...)”
“What strange magic... I don’t recall any legend like that” Ephiri raised her opinion.
Azur was still on her thinking but managed to snap out of it.
“Where is it now?”
“We believe it will arrive at the Village’s boundaries in two hours from the west...”
“I see... good work... now, you two” Azur addressed the Brothers “With all this I'm now certain that this thing is NOT the Phantom Dragolisk you both dread so much...” the brothers let out a sigh and had a relieved on their faces, if it was the Phantom, Azur would have let them fight it alone and they were not ready yet “That doesn’t mean you two get to bail out, we are at maximum level of emergency!”
Azur started to walk towards the doorway, but stopped a little before that.
“Ephi, go to Suxuq, this enemy appears to be a highly skilled Spellcaster that is incredibly big and strong, once you tell her that, you are to stay with the other civilians at the shelter, got it?!”
“Yes, Azu, I'll go to Lady Suxuq”
“Now go” once Ephiri was a couple huts away “You all got that, right?”
“Big, strong and powerful enemy, got it” Aqua was still her usual self.
“Any special strategies?” Mavlov was also dead serious.
“You all get to your units and prepare for the worst; I'll join you in a moment” with a *thud* of her Trident on the floor, Azur put an end to the meeting.
“Where are you going?” Aquara asked.
“To get on the armor, also Semrros!”
“Yesss?!”
“Tell V to go to with Ephi and Lora to be near Rekzot at all times!”
“On it Chieftesss!” Semrros then transformed into a puddle of darkness that ‘swam’ off really quickly.
“Oh~ at least worry a little bout us~” Aqua was teasing again.
“Not Now Aquara” Azur was really mad “To your posts!”
“At once Chief” Everyone on the room complied and went away to the battlefield.
At the west side of the overgrown “village” there were around Four Hundred Krygnym with a cloth that all had the same symbol on them, a Crystal with three horn like spikes coming from above and a longer one coming from the bottom. Some had a Club and/or a wooden shield that covered their right arm. These Krygnym were in groups and their colors were slightly different from block to block.
The Green Hunters commanded by Rekzot, some of them had small hunting daggers or crude lances, they need it for skinning, not for taking down prey. The only one with a real weapon was Rekzot, his halberd is a family heirloom and one of the few proper steel weapons on all of Alexandrite, this was also the weapon that his father used to try to kill Azur, then she proceeded to give it to Rekzot anyway.
The Guardsmen with Mavlov as commander, most of the guards, scouts and volunteers, there were also some humans with them. Brey is a soldier in Mavlov’s group, but a good enough to have his own group when Lora the Strongest Shadow of Azur is not around.
The Spellcasters of Suxuq, while is called like that, there is only 4 of them hidden and protected by the wall of heavyweight Krygnym. There are a lot more Krygnym capable of using magic, but only a few can use a damaging spell, in fact, Suxuq only knows 3 of them: 「Fireball」,「Lightning」and「Cutting Wind」; the other ones only know any two of those at best.
Aquara’s fans, this are followers of Aquara all the way from when she was part of Ralzorn’s (Rekzot’s Father) faction on the Shattered era. All of them have proven to be of trust since Azur beat Aquara in combat, thus their loyalty is placed on two of the most Dangerous Krygnym they have ever known. They also double up as a quick response team in case of sudden disaster and were also the first one to assemble at this field.
Lora’s Rogues, the smallest group having less than half the numbers of the others, their job is to hide and clean up after the fight and to prevent blind spots.
This is the first time the entire Army of Alexandrite properly took arms.
And at the front of all this troops, their Ruler someone call her, Leader is more suitable for her: Azur, The Pride of Alexandrite.
With her translucent shiny Trident and a silver breastplate that was a request from far away, her Deep Blue long hair that is usually loose, was now tied in a low ponytail and tied again at the tips. Was proudly and firmly standing on the plains in wait for this unknown and powerful enemy to come out of the forest.
Chouko, Goddess of the Insects
She is described as a tall woman with a pink skin, two antenna, four fingers on each hand, long hair and two wings like membrane that come out of her forearms. Worshiped by the dangerously powerful Arachnes form the Paexmisane Forest and the wise Centipedes from the Deep Underground Millennium Archives. Its rumored among the Historians that she left this world long ago and the only ones that can confirm it refuse to say anything, these being Dulener Goddes of the Dead, Eldest Centipede the oldest of the Centipede and Ichikee High Venompriestess; while her followers refuse to believe that, there is no proof after all.
First of all, thanks for reading.
As you can see decided to go with the "Krygnym are human looking with reptile like limbs" as their appearance, i made this decision because i didn't feel like the characters were "human" enough if that makes sense to anyone also, the end descriptions that appear to make no sense in regards to the chapter/part are a little glimpse to what's beyond Alexandrite and I'd like to read your opinion on them so far as well as the history overall. Finally, I have to apologize, since in the last chapter I said this was gonna be out way sooner, but a couple of metal health issues together with the flu made me redo this chapter 3 times. Once again thanks for reading and hope yall like it.
