"There's always tomorrow..."

The sun was hanging low in the sky, close to the horizon,
the clouds parted for you and I, and the poisonous crimson,
trickled out of every part of our trembling bodies,
like the daily acidic rain, through a rusty floor drain,
You forced a smile and said you were fine, your voice was coarse,
your hand corroded against mine, with a desperational force,
and you looked into me, with such intensity,
that even the heavens would crumble against it,
Your lips met mine for the last time in our short lived, and long loved history,
my heart rose to my throat, and I choked as you kissed me,
you took it, burning, from my mouth, and swallowed it whole,
as if you were hoping that it would make me a part of you, as we parted,
You carved your name into my chest, with those three true words,
and we both were eternally blessed, with an ongoing curse,
the sun went away, along with another bittersweet day,
allowing the beautiful harshness of the night to show it's true colours,
We stood alone together, though you forced our spirits to part,
and we walked into never, the end of the start,
we bled ourselves dry and shed our tears,
like a neverending pattern of blues and greys spiralling above our heads,
Thinking, you turned to face me, and smiled, knowing the world was ending,
the stars were drowning in the sea, and the gentle noises of the night were transcending,
and in all of the destruction, I clung onto our shallow happiness, as you said:
"There's always tomorrow..."
