Doing Nothing All Day
A neighbour’s husband, a good provider said she did nothing all day. He’d read, eat, then plonk down after tea. She said three children under five were tiring and needed help.
One day he tripped over toys, dirty plates and couldn’t smell his meal cooking. Children were running wild, toys flung, paper and glue strewn everywhere.
“Where’s your Mum?”
Racing to the kitchen, his wife was on a stool eating a cake.
“What’s happened?” he said without sounding edgy.
“Nothing!”
“You said I do nothing all day!”
He never took her for granted again.
