Discoveries Part 3

Later that day, Kozan went to his office. It's raining hard now. He bought himself some beers, and decided to start his research where most people start their research: the internet. He fires up the computer and opens himself a beer. The first thing that comes up when you search "Conrad Wilson" on the internet is his wikipedia page. On there, Kozan finds some basic information about the man. His birthday, where he lived his childhood, what school he graduated from, the corporation he owned, and some photos of him. Even one of him with the Queen.
Everything was just boring information about the man. Nothing that made him suspicious. But then again, this was wikipedia information. It probably came from people that did some research on him as well, not people who actually know him.
This is a dead end, Kozan thinks.
He just stares at the screen for a minute, and then he writes "Conrad Wilson Presham". Presham is the name of this town.
A few articles come up. Most of them from the website of the newspaper Sylvia worked at, The Presham Gossip. The first article was about the day he came to town. He was an important guest, so officials threw him sort of a party. The mayor personally made him a tour of Presham, and in the end, the businessman revealed he wanted to move here all along, the article states.
On the list of related articles, there's another one, from when Wilson bought the mansion he now lives in.
Still nothing. At the end of the article, there's a quote from the man himself. "I was thinking between Presham and Appleton, so I visited both, did my research, and finally concluded that Presham shows more potential. I will be working with the mayor's office, in making plans about expanding. I believe this will be a prosperous relationship for the town and for myself."
Adrian takes out a notepad from the desk, and starts to write down information. He writes:
> moved here two months ago
> chose Presham over Appleton
> is working with the mayor
He stops for a moment, and decides to search articles from Appleton too.
He finds just two articles this time.
The first article is similar to one in Presham. He came to visit, he had a tour, it is speculated to have discussed something with the mayor, and that's all. Kozan doesn't spend much time on it, he goes to the next article.
This is a small one, just stating information Kozan already knew. Conrad Wilson wanted to expand one of the towns, and finally decided to work with Presham. The same quote appears here too.
This is nothing but a waste of time, he thinks. But he promised Sylvia. And he needs her help with his apartment too.
He opens another beer, and just looks out the window, thinking of what he could do next, to further his investigation.
The place is getting hot, or maybe it's just the beer, he thinks. He opens up a window. The wind has stopped now, and the rain slowed down. The constant rapping sound of raindrops falling on the window, and on the asphalt, the every once in a while car that passes by, he finds that relaxing.
He takes the notebook, turns the page and starts to write down everything he knows. And not just bulletpoints this time, he writes everything. From what Sylvia told him, to what he found. There must be something missing. Everything shows that he's a normal guy, nothing makes him a suspect of anything. but there must be something that scared Sylvia so much that she needed his help.
It's finally the time for me to meet the man, Kozan thinks. Maybe spending some time with him will make me see what Sylvia saw, there's no other way to take this further.
He goes back to the first article from Appleton. He knows he just skimmed through it. Maybe he missed something.
After reading it thoroughly, twice, there's still nothing.
That's it, he thinks while sitting back in his chair, looking at the screen. I'll have to meet the man.
Then finally he does see something. Not in the article, but on the right side of the screen. There's a reccomendation menu, with other articles from the same date. It's the second one that catches his eye. "Man brutally murdered in Appleton woods found by group of teens."
This sparks his interest. There's also been a murder here in Presham some time ago too. He remembers Sylvia being pissed off for not getting assigned on the article.
He clicks on the article, and opens up a new tab, where he searches for murders in Presham. It's a small town, so something like this doesn't happen very often. He finds what he was looking for instantly.
"Young couple found dead in car, close to the town's entrance."
The couple was found by a patrol of police officers, the article says. Ed Twain and Wanda Fields, both in their early twenties, were found dead by police officers Cassidy Adams and Fred Stein, while they were doing their regular route at night. Their bodies were mutilated, most of the damage around their neck. The victims were missing a substantial amount of blood. The investigators assigned to the case refused to comment on this information. This is the first murder to happen in Presham in the last twelve years.
This is what Kozan writes in his notebook, getting the essence of the article. He also writes the date. 28th August 2017. This is indeed the date when Conrad Wilson first came to town. From the first article, Kozan knows Wilson stayed in town three nights. The night of the murder was the second one.
He also writes information about the murder in Appleton, but that article is less detailed. He writes the date for that murder as well: 17th June 2017.
It's a bingo. He finally has something. It may not have anything to actually do with Conrad Wilson, but it's worth to look into it. Especially if the man may be a serial killer.
He opens up another beer, and calls Sylvia.
