Michael carried Amber along the Manchester streets until he finally came to the old church. Ambers head wound was quite bad, but hopefully because she was part angel she should heal thought Michael as he struggled to open the door while holding Amber.
“I’m ok, Michael. I can stand.” Amber pushed herself from Michael’s grip putting her feet on the floor, she was a little dizzy but steadied herself, taking hold of the old metal rail which ran across the church door. “See, I’m fine,” said Amber as she seemed to wobble from side to side.
“You’re not fine!” Michael opened the door and scooped Amber back up carrying her into the building then laid her down on a sleeping bag. “I’m going to take a look at that wound,” said Michael as he gently lifted Ambers head to examine the cut. “It’s beginning to heal, you should be fine shortly. You just need rest.” Michael lay Ambers head back down softly.
Amber noticed that Michael had a black substance running down his arm, “What’s that on your arm?” she asked groggily as she attempted to push herself up into a sitting position. Michael moved back over to Amber’s side placing one of his hands on her shoulder and the other behind her head,
“You need to rest, Amber and that on my arm is only blood, but nothing for you to worry about.”
Amber lay back down all of a sudden feeling very sleepy. “You have black blood?” she yawned as her eyes begin to close.
“Yes. I have black blood,” he whispered as Amber fell asleep in his arms.
Michael was slowly removing his hand from behind Ambers head, placing it on the sleeping bag when Gabriel entered the room.
“Is she ok?” she asked hesitantly. Michael stood and turned towards Gabriel,
“She’ll be fine after some sleep. Did you deal with the human?” he asked as he walked past Gabriel and into one of the church bathrooms which was stored with first aid supplies. Michael opened one of the packs which had antiseptic wipes, taking the full pack with him, he walked back into the main hall where Gabriel stood and Amber lay.
“Yes, he thinks he was jumped by muggers, and didn’t see where his friends went.” She said sadly, while tying knots in her top nervously. Gabriel hated removing human’s memories but in cases like this it had to be done, it would be too dangerous for them to know what really roamed the streets at night. Michael walked back over to Amber and crouched down again gently lifting her head so he could clean the wound with the antiseptic wipes.
“Here, I’ll do that,” said Gabriel as she walked forward “It looks like you need to tend to yourself anyway!”
Michael looked over to his shoulder which had been injured during the fight; he had several cuts where the vampires had used metal bars to attack him with.
“I’ll see to it once I’ve seen to, Amber,” replied Michael as he gently bathed the wound.
Once he had cleaned the wound on Ambers head, Michael disposed of the bloodied wipes and went to the underground bathroom to have a shower. The old church was more like a school gym, as you travelled down the steps underground, it contained several rooms leading from the hallway.
One room contained the weapon supplies, and another which had other training equipment inside like the manikin and mats. Further down the hallway it has two toilets and a shower room, which lucky for them still worked. Michael Stripped off his clothes and weapons and turned the tap on the shower. As he stepped into the shower the colour of the water changed from clear to black as his blood washed away down the drain, Michael checked his shoulder. It had three puncture wounds from the attack ranging in size; they will be gone by sunrise thought Michael to himself as he picked up the soap, and began to wash himself under the spray.
Amber opened her eyes and looked around. She was back in the church and lay on a sleeping bag. Amber sat up and put her hand to her head, she remembered now, the vampire attack, then she hit her head and then Michael carried her back here.
“Great,” she said as she pushed herself up.
“Hay you’re awake,” said Gabriel as she rushed to Amber’s side.
“I’m fine, Gabriel. I just need the toilet,” she said as she slowly stood.
“Michael, doesn’t want you to move, and he’s pretty mad about the whole attack business,” said Gabriel as she helped Amber to her feet.
“Well unless he wants a wet patch on the floor, I am going to the bathroom.” Smiled Amber as she walked towards the steps followed by Gabriel.
Amber turned around. “Gabriel, I’m fine, I’ve just got a bit of a headache and possibly a lump, you don’t need to follow me to the bathroom,”
“Well if you need anything just give me a shout,” said Gabriel as she turned away and went back into the hall. Amber shook her head as she held onto the rail, steadying herself as she made the decline slowly down the stairs.
After using the facilities Amber opened the door to exit the bathroom. As she left the room she noticed Michael leaving the shower. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and black jeans only. Water was still dripping from his hair, but that wasn’t what caught Amber’s eye. It was the scars that Michael had covering his body. He had marks that looked like he had been whipped and cut; the wounds were not fresh, but old scars.
Michael turned around to see Amber stood in the hallway.
“What are you doing up? You should be resting!”
Amber shook her head to clear her thoughts. “I err, I needed the bathroom,” replied Amber as she tried to stop her eyes from devouring Michael’s body. Michael was all muscle and perfectly formed. Oh yeah God broke the mould when he made you thought Amber but then quickly tried to cover her thoughts so that Michael wouldn’t be able to hear her. Oh my God how embarrassing Amber began to blush.
“I’d better go back upstairs and lie down,” she said as she attempted to shuffle past Michael in the hallway, which now seemed too narrow for two people to be standing in next to each other. As Amber squeezed past Michael, she noticed that his shoulder had three puncture marks.
“You’re hurt!” she said as she stopped a facing him in the hallway. Michael looked at his shoulder and then glanced back at Amber, his dark hair still dripping with water.
“I will heal” he assured her.
“It looks like it needs tending to, I could put a bandage round it until it heals?” she offered as she gently placed her hand on Michael’s chest, near the open wound for a better look.
Michael wasn’t used to anyone caring about his well being before, even Gabriel never offered to tend to his wounds and he had known Gabriel for a very long time. Michael couldn’t help but look at how adorable Amber was right now, her hair was sticking up like a wire brush where the head wound had been, and her eyes were like amber rubies. Michael shook his head, realising he would have to control his thoughts.
“It will heal,” he said this time with less conviction than he had previously.
“I insist, and I’m not taking no for an answer.” Amber grabbed Michael by his right wrist and gently tugged him upstairs.
“Where’s the first aid kit?” asked Amber as she sat Michael down on the wooden bench near the wall. Amber looked over at Gabriel who was lay on her sleeping bag, fast asleep across the room.
“It’s in the toilet over there, I’ll go and get it,” said Michael as he went to push himself up from the bench.
“No. I’ll get It,” said Amber as she gently pushed Michael back down as she walked over to the toilet. Amber grabbed a first aid box and returned to Michael who looked uncomfortable while sat on the bench.
“What’s up?” asked Amber as she sat next to him, opening a packet of wipes to sterilise the wound.
“Nothing,” said Michael as he looked away from Amber towards the alter which was tattered and torn, broken pieces of statues lay on the floor. One of the statues of himself strangely enough was broken, parts of the face missing, and the wings in several pieces. Michael turned back around towards Amber who was now applying a bandage to his shoulder.
“Just lift up your arm please.” Said Amber as she looked up at Michael, his eyes now glowing violet. Amber smiled, “How do you do that with your eyes?”
“Do what?”
“Make them glow like that?” she laughed quietly.
“I guess the same way you do,” he said as he looked into Ambers eyes. They were glowing.
Changing colour from orange to red like dancing flames in the darkness.
“My eyes don’t glow,” she said while shaking her head.
“All done,” Amber finished applying the tape onto the bandage to keep it in place for the night.
“They glow,” he said “And, thank you.”
Michael broke eye contact with Amber his skin burning from her touch. He wanted to feel her hands all over his body, to feel them run all over his skin, but he knew that could never happen.
“You should get some rest now!” gulped Michael as he stood up and walked towards the stairs case.
“Good night,” smiled Amber as she stood up from the bench; Michael stopped on the top step and turned his head around.
“Good night, Amber,” he breathed before continuing down the stairs.
