Blowing Hot And Cold

She was a woman of great pride,
Along with a self-proclaimed great insight.
Though they proved to all be delusions,
She was a woman of problems, but no solutions.
A batch of bipolar made the situation worse
For hours she'd scream, berate and curse
At a smudge on the window or a piece of dirt,
Leaving you broken and internally hurt
You never knew what was coming next,
Always having to watch your back.
To survive, you were forced to be high-strung,
But even then, you never won.
He was a man who never stuck to his word,
Not a bad guy, but flightily as bird.
He'd plan for six and arrive at ten,
Nothing with him was consistent.
His mind would change at second's notice,
You never knew anything in advance.
He'd make it your duty to adapt,
To all the promises that he never kept.
Everyday, you were yelled at for inflexibility,
You just wanted him to live up to his never-kept decrees
But with him, unpredictability is the familiarity,
Though you just wished things weren't so crazy
If only everything didn't have to change,
If for a few seconds a day, things stayed the same,
But that's a remote dream which will never come,
Soon, one by one everyone will be gone.
If only my feelings made the slightest bit of sense,
If i weren't constantly kept in present-tense.
But there's nothing concrete for me to rely on,
Except for the unvarying patterns of the moon and sun.
How come the ones i love destroy me in the end?
Perpetually getting fucked over by what could've been.
Relationships are always being arbitrarily modified,
Before i have the chance to even open my eyes.
Overall, I've learned that I can only depend on just one thing,
Which is me and my ever-fluctuating brain.
