Falling Blocks Pt.1
By Dan Ryder
- 345 reads
Towering monoliths with polished eyes
that lean inward then sway back
bowing as the wind plays
these caustic strings,
momentarily my shadow precedes
my step then is gone,
buried by gaunt avatars
to sacrificed lives,
in an instant all is pummeled
to dust
before blackened verdancy
reclaims its ominous vigil...
beneath glaring opulence
my fore-riding shadow becomes
a trinity when suddenly
two split away
rushing behind as the original
scampers back beneath my feet
and the light passes on overhead;
lure of a predator?
Giant firefly?
Loosed from the cage of time
the guise of creatures becomes a mystery
to which experience grants nothing
but a pallid history which we might place
within a useless tome...
the drone rises and meets the ear,
burns within it the sweet release
of vacuum sealed tinnitus.
