London 2012

State educated young adults, backgrounds from Pakistan and Bangladesh, all the nations of the world.
Standing up all day or all evening in a shop, selling souvenirs or T shirts, mugs, clothes, fast food.
Such a dull job, the only one they could have attained right now. What a waste of education, personal development of childhood and teen years!
No future, just lives sidetracked into a dead end.
No value in life, no quality of existence. Politeness to the customer, kow towing to anyone who enters the shop.
What do you think of your situation, what purpose in your education?
We go to any shop and find no native English serving us.
The waiters and cleaners in our hotel are all foreigners.
The waitress at last night’s restaurant was European, the waitress at the burger bar today was European.
Is London English any more? Does it matter any more?
London is the centre of the world.
People come from all over the world to pay homage to our museums, our pageantry, our hotels, our history, our health service.
They come as tourists, immigrants, temporary workers and students.
Every race and nationality is here.
Just as every culture is represented in the British Museum, it is represented in our workplaces and our shops.
London belongs to the world now.
It is the heart of the world.
