Alone in a cave for a year

sitting pretty, taking in the shimmery stalactites
this is what you do with eternity
discovering relatively quick that your god (s) don’t exist
this is what you do with eternity
rolling over in beautiful memories from that past you can no longer live in
this is what you do with eternity
finding nothing in the present or future you can invest in
this is what you do with eternity
and the sounds from outside comes sprinkling in through the cracks
this is what you do with eternity
and you know that those dancing outside come from another class
this is what you do with eternity
because the place from before has no need for you now
this is what you do with eternity
because the people that you knew have all disappeared somehow
this is what you do with eternity
so what does it take to keep yourself intact?
this is what you do with eternity
to keep yourself from smashing your own head upside the cave wall until it cracks
this is what you do with eternity
if you can’t trust what you’ve been told & who chose to tell it to you
this is what you do with eternity
and no one is stepping up to help you through
this is what you do with eternity
the question is left to you and you alone
this is what you do with eternity
whether you end it right now or continue to walk down the hollow hole
this is what you do with eternity
a path bearing no shining light, no door prizes, no goal
this is what you do with eternity
like a mole trying to scurry its way up the side of a slippery salad bowl
this is what you do with eternity
the best answer comes from no one that knows any better
this is what you do with eternity
that the only moment you find your wiser is when you find you can’t stop questioning
this is what you do with eternity
when you know you’ll never know everything, and it increases that way everyday
this is what you do with eternity
you’re humbled by default & left that way to pace back and forth till’ the end of those
365 days.
