His shining Ferrari sits on the drive.
Italian skills made this work of art,
a powerful machine; a nations pride.
Mille Miglia; Monza played their part
creating this pure-bred racing stallion
to grace the streets of Cannes and Sunset Strip.
A must-have toy for those with a million
to spend on telling the World you’ve made it.
Tomato red coach-work shouts, guadami!
But there’s a cloud in Marranello’s sky
beneath the engine, oil drips silently
as brazen as a Burlusconi lie.
He shouts at the furtive greasy black slick,
‘Does anything work on this heap of shit?’

Liked this a lot. You use the form to get the point across with humour. Good change of mood, and the last two lines made me chuckle.

I like it. For a rhyme one
I like it.
For a rhyme one there is a certain amount of weight to it too. Often rhyming poetry (at least to my ears) sometimes sounds superficial.
I guess that the alliteration especially at the fourth line in and the assonance seen in the fourth line from the end (curious symmetry) lend it something else which I also like about it too. But overall it's the potential of the metaphor that builds throughout the poem and is piled on a little more at the end which really lifts the whole piece. Good one Ed and its great to see a piece from you too.
