Do you ever just sit and stare.
Not at anything in particular.
But at absolutely everything.
Analysing the fine details of earth.
With nothing but the droning of earth's atmosphere bellowing into your ears.
The wind slightly mute as it brushes past your hair.
Paper flickering and flying by the sudden hit.
People walk past.
Oblivious to the fact you are indeed studying them.
Watching them interact and walk and get on with their life.
The thing is.
Nobody notices you.
It's like you're hidden by a closed mirage door.
It's quite ironic actually.
Your world is concealed by the observation of others.
Person by person pass by.
And all you do is stare.
Then the surroundings catch up to you.
And you're back in reality.
The sad reality at that.
You look around once more before gathering your thoughts.
But that's when you notice somebody staring back at you.
And you realise the closed mirage door is now open.
And it's no longer a mirage.
But a mirror reflecting many fragments of your life.
Like a window into the eye of the beholder.
You don't know what to do.
So you look away and leave the scene of realism behind.
Closing that door once again to hide away from what is right in front of you.
Remaining cased in an armoured shield.
Protecting you from everything and anything.
And in that moment you feel safe.
Preserved.

Enjoyed this. Some lovely
Enjoyed this. Some lovely lines and the ideas behind it are sound. Repetition of 'earth' jarred a bit in the second stanza. Voice created comes through in parts and the ending's strong too.
