Memories are made of this

Caroline and Paul Hanson We lived in Finedon for seventeen years and we came from Barton Seagrave and Irchester after we married aiming for a fresh start. We saw our house and bought it. My grandmother lived in Victoria Road in a terrace house and grandfather worked in a shoe factory. We both enjoyed going to Finedon Methodist Church and found it a good place to worship.
We feel that the fact that we were a young couple when we moved here that everyone, particularly the elderly of the town made us feel welcome. We think that the people here in the main are friendly. We feel that it is important to support shops/trade here if we are not to lose the services. People seem friendly when you meet them at the bus stop etc even if they might moan a bit about the bus being late.
Facilities for the young seem limited. The Community Centre doors never seem open and we do not really know what is happening. Perhaps it might be a good idea if things were advertised more; for instance is there a coffee shop there or not?
A Bypass could be useful as well as Community facilities like a drop in centre for the lonely elderly. It would be nice to get lonely people from their houses together. We would like to see a sense of unity in the town with churches uniting and worshipping together to bring the gospel to the people. We think that it is essential to keep the Post Office as it provides a very important service for the elderly as well as a meeting place for everyone. We now live in Raunds Methodist Church.
