the curtain is closed on a performance i long to reprise

i wish to reprise

so, please do not sigh when i cut myself off

i don’t want to lie

don’t want to see you cry

don’t want to see you cry alone or lost or scared

because all i am 

is naive

all i am

is trying to achieve a sense of self worth strong enough to cast away doubt 

like a spell from a book from a story as a child

i’m a child 

fearing abandonment like it’s curled under my bed 

until i can’t feel my head 

maybe i’ve misread?

i’ve missed out a word, mispronounced or tripped up

the show must go on, and so the curtain comes up
