Breathe

Whenever I see you

You seem to breathe in the world

The blue sky and rolling fields

Are all gone in the blink of an eye.

All the people and all the animals

Forests and deserts

The land and stars

Even the universe

You consume it all and

Absorb it into your lungs

All the while radiating starlight.

Whenever I see you

You're all that I see

The rest of the world is blank and empty

Like an unpainted canvas

Everything has ceased to exist

And you're the only world that I can see

And I can't help but wonder

Why you don't breathe me in.
