The Room

When The Room first existed
Their life had just began
Their heart strings were joined and twisted
A besotted woman and a man.
They brought The Room to life
Gave it emotion and a soul
Such a happy time, no pain or strife
And their love made it whole.
In that time the sun shone brightly
The Room was truly blessed
All the while they held onto each other tightly
Days of blinding joy and blissful rest.
Then one day The Room changed
And the sky was suddenly clouded
The Room was slowly becoming estranged
By a dark shadow it was shrouded.
No one really knew
No one could answer why
A sickness in her grew
So many tears he would cry.
She slowly became weak
And The Room also faded
Outside it grew more bleak
And he became empty and jaded.
He gave a cry of anguish one day
As he saw the weather change to rain
Yet in vain he would pray
While she cried out in woe and pain.
The rain thundered down
The Room turned dark
In her sickness she would drown
The shadow had caused a permanent mark.
She gave her last gasp
He moaned in his despair
Her cold body he would grasp
As happiness completely faded from the air.
Now The Room is a hollow shell
Full of echoes of what could have been
And on her fading memory he does dwell
Neglecting himself, becoming bones and skin.
Now both of them are gone
The Room is filled with dust
And fading like the dawn
Struggling to survive and adjust.
The Room is now no longer there
Like them it could not cope
And succumbed to wear and tear
In the end nothing could save them; not love, not hope.
