Countdown Sunrise
Today I saw the sunrise
I’ve seen oft before
I watched the fiery cosmic wonder
As it tore the night asunder
Soaring in the heavens
Dishing daily a daily dose of photons
Dipping into darkness at day’s end
Sneaking back to feed us all again
Today many missed the sunrise
They’ve missed it many times before
Drowsy Duvet drugged
Squashy pillow hugged
Perhaps they couldn’t give a bugger!
Red, bloated, angry
Swollen, all-consuming
Like the very fires of Hell
Scorching cinder maker
Heralding life’s end
Many more Millennia
Of hazy morning Suns
Will rise and fall
An insistent cosmic heartbeat
Counting down the days
To the final sunset
When the course is run

I must admit that I'm one who
I must admit that I'm one who doesn't rise early, but when I have been out really early it's a lovely feeling of freshness, and to watch the rise of the sun must be wonderful. God's agency to keep our world going, warm enough but not burnt to cinder - our distance from it 'just right'!
Though we are told that Jesus will return soon to recreate all without illness or sin, and the sun and the heavens will be changed then! Rhiannon
