The Face You See

What lurks Behind the mask?

What conceals the face you see?

An artfully crafted evil twin

 

Outward smiles when people ask

Veil the storm-tossed inner me

Darkest deeds fester deep within

 

Subliminally simmering, the self-centred pit is vast

 Carefully crafted outer smiles hide the inner me

Image polished doctor spun, despair beneath the grin

Well expressed, Graham.

It is a kindness to give opportunity for opening out, and sharing - not to be too insensitive and just appear nosey and so bring down all the barriers, but to be able to show a willingness  to listen and sympathise, possibly help, pray, and share something of one's own problems and regrets, and maybe of helpful or diificult advice receeived.
