Welcome to my life
I thought it planned, set, complete
Pete & I were always on the boil
Whether sand or sea or soil
Until the undertaker took him out by first his feet

Unexpected, yes
It was unplanned , incomplete
Pete died in his favourite armchair
Reading a book on pet care
I bought him is cuppa & found him slumped in his seat

That was over a year ago
Now I plan to compete
Both single’s clubs and disco’s
Both I feel are no, no’s
Maybe cruise away on holiday to Crete

My friends they said they’d help
But their lives were replete
All their friends were wed
No-one left unsaid
They couldn’t find a soul for me to meet and greet

But I’m set in my ways
I’d been 40 years with Pete
But I crave stimulation
A partnership creation
I’m not yet ready to take a back seat.
