The Rebellion

We are the people.
We started this rebellion,
in hopes of a better peace,
but all I see is a growing fire.
Everyone contributing to the fighting.
Everyone yelling loudly and shouting.
Mothers, holding their children, shouting
at them, the growing fear of us, the people.
We are, every day, always fighting.
We took this oath of rebellion,
Being consumed within its fire.
Where is this so-called peace?
I have seen no peace,
only the screaming and shouting
as men and women burn in this growing fire.
But, we are the people.
We need this rebellion.
We need to keep fighting.
Why are we fighting,
weren’t we doing this for peace?
This is the rebellion.
Why are we shouting,
aren’t we all people?
There’s so much fire.
We have all been burned by the fire
in all this useless fighting.
We’re supposed to be people.
We only wanted peace.
There’s so much shouting,
in this terrifying rebellion.
We took the oath of rebellion.
We burned from its fire.
We were shouting.
We were fighting.
There was no peace.
We aren’t people.
Why were we shouting, for this cruel rebellion?
We were once people, but we died in the growing fire.
We were fighting for peace, but we destroyed the peace.
