Soledad Marquesa sat slouched on the mall bench. Three damn hours she had been here, scoping out teenagers hoping for some kind of spark. Nothing popped out.
Soledad was writing a screenplay about 2 kids from a western town that fall for each other on Valentine's day as zombies take over their school. For weeks she had been slaving away at her typewriter.
The studio felt it needed beefing up. " Kids are more sophisticated nowadays," they had urged. "You should tackle the subject what is the difference between how woman and men act in love," The studio head had winked,as if it was piece of cake. Who did this guy think she was? A mind reader?
She certainly couldn't use her marriage as a blueprint. Doyle and Soledad were a peculiar pair. They met at a soda machine 21 years ago. Their mutual love of sushi and nude sunbathing had bonded the pair over the years.
Soledad was getting a craving for a joint. But for now,she would have to settle for a pretzel. As she stands in line,a bevy of girls squeal at a hunk with chunky curls and dark paneled sunglasses. He ignores them and goes straight for a freckle faced girl who is pretending not to stare, but obviously likes him. He puts his lanky arm around the young woman and they head in the direction of the skate park.
As the couple exits ,a lightning bolt hits her. Men like mystery ,a partner that is a bit of puzzle. Women like a man that can figure out what they want and take the lead. She writes this down, before it is forgotten.

Some good individualistic detail; joints and pretzels, sushi and nude sunbathing. I like it!
