This is a tale of wily Cockney ways that innocent Scots lads should
keep in mind.It was a Wembley fixture in the 70,s when the public
transport system was on strike and the fans faced a hike to the
stadium.A group of Scottish fans had partaken of a massive bevvy at a
hotel and were making their way to Wembley.They were a bit late when
they spied a a large empty furniture lorry."Hey pal" shouted one of
them to a man standing beside the van."Gie us a lift tae Wembley and
we,ll gie ye a quid each"The man considered the ofer and agreed but but
said he would have to close the back doors in case of police.Within
minutes the fares were paid,drinks duly loaded and the fans barded the
van.The Londoner put the tailgate up.He then bolted the doors and
buggered off.It wasn,t his furniture van.:
