What can I say. I've always liked your work. I read this as a hateful rant and It got under my skin. Guess I didn't - still don't - know where you were coming from with this. Such is the power of the written word.

Hi Rich

 

Well I’ve previously written about anorexia and government’s ‘five-a-day’ recommendation, so I suppose this is my take on obesity.  As a vegetarian who has never eaten a dead animal in my life, I admit it, I’m prone to being a ‘food Nazi’.  Medical conditions aside, to me, general obesity equates to laziness.  I never eat processed foods, cook all my meals from scratch including bread, albeit by machine, I never eat take-aways, to me a fast food is an apple or banana.  As a life style choice it’s not difficult and in fact is cheaper.  Sorry, but I feel that anyone who decides upon guzzling giant bottles of fizzy pop and stuffing their face with burgers or whatever ‘cos they’re too idle to peel some spuds or chop some veggies lays themselves open to attack.  After all, it’s not as if veggies haven’t been the butt of jokes ever since I can remember, and yet I’ve never heard one complain.
