You don't know me at all
Although
You know how I look naked
In the dark. In the light
Draped upon your shoulder
Although
You know my face, laughing, crying
Concentrating with fierce thought
Angry, disappointed, tired
Although
You know my fears, my dreams, my childhood
You don't know me at all
Until
I can juggle apples, dancing on the kitchen table
With a daffodil in my teeth
Without losing my dignity
Until
You can explain to me
Without condescension
Until
You catch my humour
As it creates a parting in your hair
Until
You understand my mood
Without offering analysis
Or commentary
You don't know me at all
