Reality check

There is that little boy. He looks like a cat
surrounded by toothless bloodhounds.
There are houses. They look like castles
made of coloured wax. There are fig trees.
They look like drunken soldiers. There are
clouds. They look like exuberant gods in
speedboats. There is the daily news on TV.
It looks like a Tom & Jerry cartoon. There
are a father and a mother. They look like
the pawns of a chess game. There is a god.
He looks like the coach of his football
team. There's this life. It looks like an old
parable in which water changes into wine.
