When everyone is white, try to be black.

When everyone is happy, try to be sad.

 

When everyone is sober, try to be drunk.

When everyone is barren, try to be rain.

 

When everyone is brute, try to be human.

When everyone agree, try to be in vain.

 

When everyone is quenching, try to ignite.

 

When everyone is dark, try to be a light.

We are social animals and this was a reminder to me not to follow the crowd and be myself.  I loved the simplicity and the power of the poem's message.
