The Walls Surround
By JackJakins
- 634 reads
I find myself locked alone,
My own world bearing,
Encompassing
Others enter, but do not return,
I watch one staring,
Understanding
I think often to leave,
But this is haven,
Nurturing
I spend my time thinking,
Pasts open upon pasts,
Showing
My mind grows tired,
So I leave it be,
Resting
How long have I been here?
There was once space,
Breathing
Now the walls are empty,
But for me,
Being
I look to tomorrow,
But quiet me thoughts,
Knowing
Time passes, a cycle of nothings,
The tower chimes but the face is blank,
Passing
I close my eyes, let go,
And the world opens,
Beginning
A smile dances upon a face,
Happiness sparks,
Growing
Euphoria transports,
A picture through frame,
Leaving.
I am not here, no longer me,
But another in time,
Being
The water pours smooth over my hands,
I raise it to my lips,
Believing
A sound breaks through,
The lonely scene,
Awakening
Silence now,
I listen to my breathing,
Knowing
I open my eyes.
But The Walls Surround.
Closing.

Hi Jack,
Hi Jack,
this is quite a journey you take the reader on, going from despondency, to joy and so many mixed feelings within the poem.
I liked the flow of this writing, it worked for me.
Hope you are well.
Jenny.
