For the Cause

For the Cause
Take up the broken scissor blade for the cause,
Join the lonely and the brave, make your skin flawed
Because that's what you believe, isn't it, craze?
That it's you versus the world and there's eternity to save
It can't get worse, that's what they tell you, your empty friends
And still it always does, and they've no heart to lend
Just false words, just promises, just half-a-minute ears
And none of them would lose tears if you were gone,
None of them are worth it, so did you choose them wrong?
Every single decision that you made was yours to make
Every single time you hurt there was another heart to break
somewhere
Why are you still questioning her not being there?
Become a coward if you want, take that 'easy' way out,
Easy for you, and yet it's not you that's crushed,
It's everybody else, flowers on your grave,
He was here yesterday, he was a sorry man, he was&;#8230;
Do you really think they'd understand?
Make a change, forget the blade, pack up all your things and find
Another day in another place, start all over, don't sit mourning
For the life you want, go out and get it tailour-measured,
tailour-made
What makes you think you can stand the sight of your own blood,
anyway?
Even if it's the last thing you'll ever see, dispersed in
bathwater,
With no intent to be original, no monument, no last great stand,
No artistic way, only quiet and somehow second-hand,
We've all seen it in films a million times; we've become
oblivious,
Yes, we are blind. No shock, only bewildered smiles.
Empty friends, worthless confidantes,
You never sought us out when you had the chance and yet
We'll all flock to the death parade, stand like idiots and say
A few meaningless words, just to reassure God that you made a
difference
To our own pathetic lives, our closed-in worlds.
Yes, we're the good guys now.
