Inspiration Point (30th May 2008, 12.58am)
It's spring and the sudden rains and blossoming sun make the earth come alive once more...
From earth, I emerge,
raise my shiny new head,
take the mud in my mouth,
chew once, spit it out;
water stains my eyes with clarity,
sun pierces my conscience with startling colour;
I spring up, strong, well-fed
from the earth which feeds,
from the earth which seeps
into my veins like drugs,
pure love.
From earth I come,
spurting my shoots into your plot,
making you proud;
Mother, you made the ground
in which I make my bed;
soon,
you will reap what you sowed
and I’ll be dead.

This is great and I know I always have a but..but I think 'green is the overwhelming theme' sits uneasily in this and the line of 'from the earth that bleeds'. We've had the 'bleed' conversation before so I know what you'll say. I personally would edit those two lines out for perfection, but I think it's very good all the same.
