Road to Ruin (9th October 2008,12.25pm)

(two lines taken from SOiL’s ‘Road to Ruin’)

I shield my eyes as the sun sighs down
in despair; she lowers her gaze from
my tear-stained face, and the dark is waiting
to absolve me of my pain.

I’m breaking the windscreen with my
speed, jamming my foot down hard with
need; the car vibrates but keeps hard
and straight on the road.

My black skies are crying, multi-coloured
pain upon me; beating down their shame
upon me; watching as I split heart from
head and lose all feeling.

Did you see me? Blowing through your hate-
stained door; I was gone before the last tear
hit the floor, the sundown driving me out
onto the road to ruin.
