Splinter (28th March 2008, 12.05pm)
Slipped under the skin
Lodged beneath the surface
How do I begin to take a pin to dig you out
Millimetre by millimetre
Tearing away at each fragile layer
I work my way down but you just dig deeper
Locking into every cell
Bringing your infection with you
Causing me agony in miniature
Slipped so easily in
Burrowed so deep suddenly
I unpick the surface to reach you
I tear at myself, self-destruction
Caused by your seduction
Tiny pinpricks
I dig with my primitive tool
Like a frustrated cavewoman seeking out a soul
What you have planted grows
You unfurl your arrowheads
Tunnelling a one-way street
Into my skin my heart my bed
Faking a whole
When you only leave a part of
Your twisted little heart
A splinter.
