Something menacing was lurking in the inky shadows, hanging on to every word between the girl and guardian. He hated the guardians, all of them! One day he would break free and he would watch them squirm like the miserable lost souls they were.
'Casting his black shadow upon the world all things will know true misery and a veil of darkness will encase our most beautiful universe.'
Those words were spoken on the death bed of the first guardian, Terra, the one that had imprisoned him. He would rise again one day, he knew it and they knew it too. Until then he would lurk in the shadows feeding his rage and biding his time. Oh, how he loved time. All he had to do was sit and wait, while his army grew and strengthened. The hatred being manifested by him; in the darkness, was used as a constant energy source for his little minions. They were getting hungrier by the day, all too eager to be unleashed upon the world and so was he.
Crimson eyes and a viciously sharp, nasty grin was vaguely visible in the inky black shadows. He had been waiting for too long, it was eating him up on the inside. The guardians had trapped him many years ago. They sacrificed their souls eternal peace imprison him for all time. This was not just a band of people standing guard either, it was an old magic. Magic that predated his own birth and he had already lived for an infinite amount of time. You see time was not something he ever worried about, because he always had so much of it.
Then one day the guardians came to be, and he was imprisoned for overstepping his role as the Lord of Shadows. He had only stirred up a little trouble, causing mass rioting and chaos world wide. Oh how his little minions had loved him then. Now they were starving, only feeding off of his energy and each others, mutating them into grotesque, disfigured things.
Soon they would be free though, he knew it, he could feel it, the dark energy was getting stronger, becoming thick, tangible. One day he would unleash it upon the world; a vicious monster, fed anger and hate relentlessly. The energy was pulsating around him now, his anger rising. The barriers began to crackle.
"The shadows of darkness will not be held back much longer. I will rule again!" he bellowed.
The air around him crackled exploding. The darkness seeped through the cracks that had formed in the barrier and quickly began consuming everything in its path. He charged into the barrier bursting through and started towards the two he had been watching. He focused all his rage on them.
Lillie and Mirra turned toward the noise as a massive dark form with glowing red eyes lunged at them from what use to be the barrier that was containing it. Lillie started glowing, her blood stained clothes changing into beautiful white silk that fit snugly to her form. Gold metal work turned the outfit into armor on the chest, forearms, and legs keeping it light and flexible. A staff also appeared in her hands, it was white and gold with runes etched in the shaft and an iridescent gem set in what looked like the claw of a bird.
Lillie took the staff and swung it hard at the point she assumed was the huge beasts head, SMACK! She had hit her mark perfectly and the massive form howled in pain but still came back at her again. This time she missed when she swung, but as soon as she brought the staff around a beam of light shot the dark form square in the chest exploding it into fine dust that dissipated back into the shadows.

Well Done
Some vivid description and a good use a vocabulary in show. I wouldn't like to be around when he makes his comeback! Well done.
