“Perhaps you need some more time, Luther,” David stated.
“Yes, keep looking Luther, it will come to you. While you’re looking, I’ll tell you about the mark on your head.”
“I’m listening,” Lucifer replied while he continued looking at the ancient scroll.
“Well cast your mind back to the meeting you attended the other night when you heard the story of which our ritual was based.”
“Go on,” Lucifer turned his attention to Jeremiah.
“I can now inform you that it isn’t a story but the truth, a truth about a special man from the East that God loved so much. Luther, that man was you.” Jeremiah again paused to see Lucifer’s reaction in the candlelight. Lucifer didn’t say a word, but his face started to show signs of intrigue and worry.
“Remember, the ritual tells us how this incredible man was slain by the hand of the Master of the West by a fatal wound on the head.”
“Yes I remember. He and his two companions were all murdered.”
“That’s it. Well the mark on your head has been carried with you throughout your entire existence. You now carry it with you today in your human form. Would you like to see it?” Lucifer nodded. “Daniel if you don’t mind.” Daniel stepped forward and showed him some writing in his book.
“When I examined your head when we first met, I saw this word.” He pointed to a word in the book. “It was written in the centre of your wound.”
“Sorry again it means nothing to me.”
“I know, but look it is exactly the same as the third set of writing and symbols on the scroll.” Lucifer took the book from Daniel and matched the writings together.
“How can this be? I want to make sure myself. Do you have a mirror?”
“I thought you might ask that,” Daniel smiled and removed his hand from behind his back and handed Lucifer a mirror. The both of them held the mirror at the correct angle to read what was written on the back of his head. As he moved his fingers through his hair, the candlelight revealed the word written there. Lucifer’s eyes widened.
“Thank you,” he said and handed back the mirror to Daniel who returned to his seat. “What do these words and symbols mean?”
“That we don’t know because it is written in a language we don’t understand. We were hoping you might be able to enlighten us.”
“Jeremiah may I be so bold to speak?”
“By all means, David go ahead.”
“Maybe Luther is not looking at them properly.”
“What do you mean?”
“Perhaps he can’t understand them because he’s in a human body.”
“Of course David, you might be right.”
“Luther, remember you said last night about the magical things that had happened at the zoo. You said this was only possible with assistance from the light above. Maybe, it is time to try to contact that light again.”
“I can try,” he said and spent several minutes looking upwards but nothing happened. Everybody could tell that Lucifer was getting frustrated.
“Come on, show yourself!” he shouted. Still nothing. Then Lucifer started to get angry, allowing his old nature to reappear.
“Show me!” he shouted again. In an instant, his eyes flashed red and his body began to radiate a red light all around the room. The other men in the room sat spellbound in the red glow while Lucifer sat staring at them. He removed his attention from the men and turned his head to look at the scrolls.
“The letters have moved. I can see them differently, but I can’t still understand what they say.” Lucifer was squinting his eyes.
“You must be able to understand them, try harder,” Jeremiah was now getting frustrated and impatient. “Can’t you see them through your red eyes? Surely God gave you those eyes for a reason.”
“I’m trying my best!” Lucifer angrily snapped at Jeremiah, causing him to sit back in his chair.
“Something is missing. What am I not seeing or understanding?” Lucifer concentrated harder.
“Wait!” David said. “Luther, in your experience with Mary and Samson, didn’t you say that Mary had a blue light around her and some of that blue entered you?”
“Yes, I remember allowing the heavenly colour to enter my aura.”
“What happened after that?”
“My angelic light turned purple, surrounded by the white light from above.”
“My God. David, you’re right,” Jeremiah patted David on the back, “Lucifer, you have to concentrate your energies and bring back that purple essence. Then maybe you will understand the writings fully.”
“Okay, I’ll try.”
He closed his red eyes and sat for a while in silence, pleading with the Most High. It wasn’t long before Mary’s face appeared in his mind. The image of her loving eyes started to make his colour vibrate more as she whispered that she loved him. The energy around him now started to rotate like a whirlwind. All of a sudden Lucifer’s head shot back and he let out a deep roar. Sparks started flying off him and shot around the room and everyone in the room sat back in amazement. The whole room was shook on its very foundations. The chairs started vibrating to the energy that was flying around the room, Lucifer’s red glow now gave way to a beautiful purple light surrounded by a white light which hurt everybody’s eyes. The vibrations in the room ceased as Lucifer lowered his head. His eyes were now open, a perfect purple in colour.
“This is amazing, what a beautiful sight.” Jeremiah said, weeping at what he was seeing in front of him. “Luther, now in this state, please look at the scroll.”
Lucifer nodded and looked at the scroll. As he read, his aura started shining even brightly as the words and symbols all changed again. This time they glowed in the light of his aura and he now could fully understand them. “Daniel, get ready to record what is about to be said,” Jeremiah instructed Daniel. “I’m ready,” Daniel sat with pen poised ready as Lucifer began to read.
“I am Joshua and this is a true account of what has come to pass. It was given to me when the light passed over me. I am writing the word of God so that when the One reveals himself, he will understand what is written and will know his true names. These names will be revealed when all the signs are in place and the time is at hand when God’s will has to be established on Earth again. To the one who is reading this, remember your name well, as it comes with love from that light which is from above. Your first name given to you from the Most High is Altithronus, meaning ‘one enthroned on high, seated in heaven’. God gave you this name because you were loved the most of all the angels. God saw in you the love and light in your heart which shone the brightest. The Most High and his angels were discussing creating another form of life and, after long deliberation and discussion, God decided to create a life form which would be called man. It was decided that when mankind was created, people would need guidance and a leader to watch over them. When the Most High asked his angels for a volunteer to be this leader of man, they all refused to take such a transformation except one. Most thought it was dirty and unclean to give up their angelic status and become flesh. The one who accepted was you, Altithronus. You loved God so much you would even sacrifice being an angel to please the Most High and remain in favour. So God decided to give you another name by which you would be known by when you went down to Earth. You were to be called Agonotheta Luminar ‘champion of light’. You were then sent into the universe where you became atoms of anti-matter. Here you clashed together with atoms of matter. For light years you had battled, trying to impose your will against matter. Finally anti-matter and matter accepted one another and the Most High’s plan had started. It was the beginning of the creation of life. It was there on Earth, when joined by other men and women who had also left their atomic form, people came to know your name. You were loved by your people as much as you loved God.” Lucifer paused in his reading, staring into space.
“What is it …?” Jeremiah asked. “Goodness, I don’t even know what to call you now.”
“I don’t know,” he replied. They could see tears in his eyes as he spoke. “I’m just starting to remember it all. My people who I loved so much, I can hear their screams in my head.” He wiped away a purple tear and continued reading. “Your people grew in numbers and it wasn’t long before some of them travelled. In doing so, they moved away from the light that was bestowed upon you every day. Then in the west, a man proclaimed himself leader of people who had settled there. Year by year, he grew more and more jealous of your people’s love for you. That is when it was decided he would kill you and claim your name and power. But the Most High’s love for you would not let you die. After forty days and nights of contemplation in Earth’s cold bosom, the Most High brought you and your two faithful companions back to life. This is when you chose your third name and your previous two were to be forgotten, hidden away from you and the eyes of mortal men. You chose the name Ulcisor Mano, ‘to take revenge on men’. You had now given up your mortal body and returned to an angelic state. The Most High sorrowfully gave you the courage and ferocity of the lion and the blood of your people ran through your veins and lit up your eyes. You then decided to wreak your revenge on mankind for what they had done to you and your people. The Most High allowed you your freedom to punish them for their wickedness. However in your rage you forgot where you had come from. The Most High wept as the darkness in your heart grew, fuelled by a lust for death and revenge. So much so that you started to hate and deny God, the one you had loved so much before. It was not long before other angels who were attracted to this new darkness joined your cause. They left their heavenly bodies and joined you on Earth to rid the world of dirty flesh and soon all of mankind was feeling the full strength of your wrath. It was here when you were given your new name. In the confusion of you losing your old names, man decided to call you Lucifer or Satan, that great darkness and evil which all men were to fear and hate even though it was mankind’s fear and hate that created you. On hearing yourself being called this, you adopted this name and started to believe that this was your true identity. So you decided that your angelic brethren and any man that would follow you would call you this as a lasting reminder of man’s evil in their mind. I, Joshua, have now stated what has gone before. Now I will tell you what is to come. The one reading this must know that his power will not last. You will win a great battle and briefly be a king and ruler on earth.”
Lucifer stopped reading the text and looked at the men in the room. “So now you know my name and who I am. I am Lucifer.” He could not believe that he was actually speaking his name aloud. “Yes, I am Lucifer.”
“Technically, that is not true, is it? If you think about the other names you’ve had,” Jeremiah boldly replied.
“But if I’m not Lucifer, then what am I to be called?”
Daniel sat forward. “Perhaps the time will come when you will get a new name?”
Lucifer was surprised at their reaction, he was telling them that he was lord of all darkness and yet they remained in his power helping him. His memory went back to the orphanage when Angela had recognised him and spoke his name. She was not afraid. Did she know the real him?
“Can’t you see? Lucifer was the name given to you by man. It is an illusion. You are real and the name is only an illusion.”
Jeremiah’s kind words gave Lucifer heart.
“If you don’t mind, we shall call you that until you get your new name.” Lucifer nodded and then returned to reading the scrolls.
“After this brief rule on earth, you will be taken into God’s presence. You will be told about your former existence, but still you will remain in your arrogance and think God is lying to you. After much discussion and deliberation, the Most High will bestow a punishment on you where you will be ordered to return to flesh, the thing you have come to hate so much. On Earth, you will have to carry out God’s work in order to return to your true self and more importantly readdress the balance of good on earth. This will get men believing in God again. If the right person is reading this, then the brotherhood I started have done their job well, and I would like to thank them for guarding and preserving the sacred writings. I, Joshua, would love to thank all of the brethren from the North, East, South and West for their hard work and dedication and fidelity to the cause. ”
“Jeremiah, imagine, your oldest known ancestors are talking now with us and thanking us?”
Daniel was speaking like an excited boy.
“I know Daniel, it’s quite remarkable. Sorry Lucifer, please continue.”
“Now my friend, you will now be reading this in troubled times for man. A conflict will be growing which is going to change the very way man lives. Man will now have to prepare for their final fall. A man will rise in the east and will come to represent God’s wrath on Earth. It is up to you.”
At last Lucifer stopped his reading, and they all noticed his colour purple fading.
“What is it, Lucifer?”
“I just can’t read the final piece of writing at the bottom. The words and symbols are too distorted.”
“Please try and focus again,” Jeremiah had now stood and was willing Lucifer to understand it.
“I can’t, I really can’t.”
The purple had now given way to his own red which in turn was now also fading, until there was nothing but darkness again, save the candlelight flickering in the darkness of the room.
“Are you all right Lucifer?”
David stepped forward as Lucifer slumped forward onto the table in front of him.
“I am fine, just a little exhausted, that took a lot out of me.”
“I am sorry I pushed you Lucifer.” Jeremiah had sat back down. “I just wanted to know the whole prophecy. Are you sure − Jeremiah’s question was silenced by Daniel placing his hand on the old man’s shoulder.
“I think Lucifer needs to rest now, my old friend.”
“Yes, you’re right, forgive an old fool.”
“Not at all, I also wanted to know the whole story, but maybe God didn’t want us to know everything right now. What do you think Lucifer?”
“I think you could be right Daniel. If God had wanted us to know, I would have been able to read it.”
Lucifer noticed Jeremiah’s eyes looking at him strangely. He knew that not for one moment did Jeremiah believe that he was telling the truth, a truth which for now Lucifer would keep to himself.

Well I've finally caught up.
Well I've finally caught up. I do hope this isn't the end. You've written this story in such a way that it feels quite believable and gives hope that good will overcome evil.
Hoping for more.
Jenny.
