THE HELLBOUND SINNER

A lightning flash
Lights up the sky,
It leaves its image on my eye.
A thunder crash
Adds to my fear,
It leaves its echo in my ear.
A chilling wind
Around me moans,
It leaves its mark upon my bones.
All those who've sinned
Know how I feel,
On nights like this Hell seems so real.
A dark regret
For each foul deed,
My lies, my lusts, my soulless greed.
A hope that yet
I might repent,
Before my final breath is spent.
A churchyard gate
Looms from the gloom,
Beyond it hangs an air of doom.
A sense my fate
Is drawing near,
But who for me will shed a tear ?
From grave to grave
I trip and lurch,
I pray that I can reach the church.
A God who'll save
Despite my sin,
I pray awaits for me within.
In dark despair
I reach the door,
If God was here He's here no more.
All that's left
Is ruined stone,
So ends all hope I might atone.
A form appears
And solid stands,
It holds my life within its hands.
Now as it nears
I feel its breath,
It whispers coldly of my death.
A taloned fist
Grips tight my heart,
Eternity's about to start.
Into death's mist
I'm drawn away,
Damnation's price I must now pay.
-----------
The lightning flash
Which lights the sky,
Is unseen by his lifeless eye.
The thunder crash
He no more fears,
It makes no sound in his dead ears.
