The man who walks through hell

Step by step I walk through the fire
It burns my very soul to be here
The pain I feel insurmountable
A pitchfork in my side twisting more and more as I walk
Yet I walk
I chose to be here
I was given a choice
Whether to fly among the birds
Or to walk in this hell ive created
And I will choose this path again
I will place these hooks into my skin
And attach chains that weigh more than I will understand
And then I will walk
Across the coals that burn my feet
Through mountains and valleys in unknown lands
Dragging these chains as they plough the soil
Hidden by the coals that burn above
My other half will come to me and ask why I do this
Why over my many lives do I return to this hell
Dragging chains I no longer need to carry
Tending to the soil il never use my self
And walking forward to a place unknown
"Rest” he’ll say
“Come play in the clouds”
“Dance with the cool sea and be free from all your troubles”
“This life treats you like a virus”
“Waiting to get rid of you”
“But what of it”, I will say
“I do not do this for anyone but myself”
“These coals they have cooled down compared to my first step”
This mountain now only a hill I have yet to climb”
“And these chains weigh too much to let me fly”
“So I will play here”
“Why dont you come and join me?”
He laughs, saying “why would he ever do that”
Then flys away into the lush clouds
So no, I will carry on
I will keep walking ploughing the ground with my chains
Hoping that those who come after me do not have to experience the same
And maybe one day the ground will be lush like the clouds above
The thorns that I used to avoid
Will be able to bear fruit just as the rain does
And the ground once covered in ash will be green with fauna
shaping themselves as the clouds do
