VAUDEVILLIAN BLACK

There goes Mister Black
Head to toe in Victorian style
Lips curled with ruby charm
A devilish elfin
With diamond-blue eyes.
He'll sing you a song of razor sharp wit
And minor crimes of depravity
Brimming with humour
Trouble and skit,
A vaudevillian of musical hilarity.
On first impressions
You'll plainly see
He's not your 'regular Joe'
And within moments spent in his company
No one will ever really know
If he threw those babies down the stairs
As a tale that's all in jest
A recalled print
Steeped in gin
Or an overt attempt to confess.
Yet with a roguish flick
Of his tit-fer-tat
It's all told with cabaret flair.
The laughter will burst guilty-free
'Til he stills you
With a murderous stare.
And to bind you all in secrecy
At the details he's divulged,
He'll sweetly threaten to cut you
If you dare to tell a soul.
