POEM: Just To Watch Your Lips.

Words reach out, "How are you today?"
They carry no importance,
I use them as a tether of hope,
As a hand would reach to touch your arm,
To keep you still in my company.
To watch your lips as you respond,
The words of no importance,
Save as an abstract motion capture,
As I frame your face inside my head,
Another picture for my album.
Lost in delight of your display,
As you turn to take your leave,
My gaze skims every perfect angle,
My eyes hunger still, for your image,
Meager crumbs feeding my addiction.
I've no care of your direction,
As lithe limbs carry you away.
A mesmerizing swish of fabric,
The entrancing swaying of your hips,
With the grace peculiar to your stride,
I can't bear farewell as you go,
regret-strangled words locked tight.
My "Goodbye" hovering silently,
I'm lost in the chance to watch you move,
'Til the sight has faded, for today.
Pause, replay and rediscover,
Grateful for the brief encounter.
A small crust to ward off the famine,
That will sustain me 'til the next time.
I can fill my heart with you again.
