Cohan growled as the feeling of unease grew stronger. He slowly rose to his feet, watching as Sohai did the same. Glancing around, he watched as the lights in the room began to fade. The people who worked at the plaza were puzzled as to what was going on, and were talking in hushed whispers. He had a sudden urge to tell them all to get out of there, but he ignored it. They would look at him and laugh; they worked here, they wouldn't just up and leave. He gazed around for whatever it was that was making his senses go crazy, but saw nothing. "Sohai?" he whispered after a moment. His partner looked at him silently. "What do you think it is?" Sohai was about to answer, when he suddenly froze. Frowning, Cohan took a step toward his partner. Sohai didn't move, didn't blink, his eyes wide. "...Sohai?" he whispered again, waving a hand in front of his face. "Hey, are you with me? Hello?" He snapped his fingers, but still his partner didn't move. His heart hammered at the inside of his chest as his fear grew. What was wrong with him? "Sohai...what's wrong?" he gripped his partner's shoulder and immediately let go as something shocked him. Wincing, he rubbing his hand. "Jesus," he said, eyes wide. "What's wrong with you? Sohai?" He gulped when there was no response, and began to look around, wondering why Sohai had suddenly frozen. "Who's there?" he snarled. "Come out you coward." he felt something in the now-dark plaza move, but he wasn't sure what. Shuddering, he looked back to his partner. He hadn't moved. Cohan swallowed and felt uneasy. 'What's going on?' he thought to himself. "Sohai...c'mon man, answer me...what's wrong?" he waved his hand in front of Sohai's unblinking eyes, but they never once followed. "What is wrong with you?" Of course, his partner still didn't answer, didn't seem to know he was there. "Sohai!" he said, and shook him slightly. "C'mon, I need you! Something's going on! Snap out of it!" Still, Sohai didn't respond. Growing desperate, he reached out and slapped his partner acorss the face. He immediately regretted though, when Sohai's head was whipped to the side. Sohai blinked eyes for a moment, and slowly focused on Cohan. "...Sohai? Are you with me?" Cohan whispered worriedly, frowning.
Sohai blinked, and for a moment Cohan wasn't sure if he was all there. "I...Yeah..." he murmured, and then swayed a little. Grabbing his head, he turned and sat back down at the booth. "I...need to sit down for a moment..."
Cohan nodded. "What's wrong? What happened?"
"...I can't explain it..." Sohai murmured, glaring down at the floor. He closed his eyes for a moment and rubbed his temples. "I don't know what happened. My head hurts so fucking bad I can't think."
"...Did you have a headache before?"
"I don't know. I don't remember having one." he sighed and went silent. Cohan frowned and looked around. It seemed that the workers had left them alone in the front of the plaza. They had probably gone to the back to call someone. His frown deepened. Did the phones even work? Sohai sighed and looked at him, his eyes slightly unfocused and rimmed with pain. Cohan winced, knowing that Sohai's headache must have been pretty bad.
"You okay?" he asked quietly.
Sohai nodded slowly. "Yeah. I'm fine. Just a headache."
"...What happened? You...weren't moving. You froze," mumbled Cohan as he kept his guard up for the source of his unease to come out.
"I know," Sohai sighed. "I don't know what happened, Cohan. It was so strange, and...fuck this headache!" he gripped his head tightly. "God damn!" he squeezed his eyes closed, his head bowed. Cohan frowned and sat down at the booth, looking at his partner worriedly. "I hope he goes to hell!"
Cohan was confused. "Who?" he asked. "Who do you hope goes to hell?" It was weird for Sohai to be saying that he wished something bad upon anyone. It just wasn't like him. "Who?"
"I don't know his name. Mother fucker got into my head..." he took in a calming breath. "Sorry," he mumbled. "I lost control there for a moment." he sighed and opened his eyes. "I didn't mean to yell. I don't hope he goes to hell...even if he needs to."
"Who? Who got into your head? Just now?" at Sohai's nod, he continued. "Who was it? What were they doing? What happened?"
Sohai groaned and shook his head. "You really never do run out of questions, do you?" he sighed and looked at Cohan. "I don't know who it was. Some guy. He was...in my head. Started saying something but I couldn't understand him. And then you slapped me." he smirked. "I can't believe you would slap your own partner. I feel so loved," he said sarcastically.
Cohan smirked. "Sorry. Had to be done; nothing else worked," he said with a shrug, as if it happened often, which it didn't. He had never slapped Sohai before. "Really...I'm sorry about that."
"Don't be, it's okay," said Sohai casually, before he sighed and closed his eyes once more. "So...what are we dealing with?"
Cohan frowned. "I don't know," he said honestly. "I was hoping you could tell me."
"Just because I'm older than you doesn't mean I have all the answers," Sohai pointed out with a small smirk. "But I don't know. I have no idea." he growled suddenly and glared into a corner of the room, where the shadows were thick. "Something's there..." he murmured suddenly.
Cohan blinked and looked at where his partner was pointing. He didn't see anything though, but he felt it. Something was there alright; he just wasn't sure what. "Come out you coward," he called again. In response, he got a ghostly chuckle. Though faint it made chills run throughout his body. A strong feeling of unease coursed through him, and he knew that whatever was waiting in the shadows was stronger than he was used to.
Suddenly he wasn't so sure he would be able to capture this one. He may not even get out alive.
