On the T.V. you hear,
About the killings around town.
It happens more and more each year.
Someone has been shot,
Someone has been killed.
They found the body in a parking lot.
These terrible mishaps with a gun,
The number of killings,
Boy someone has been having fun.
The numbers keep adding,
The bodies keep coming,
And day after day,
It never goes away.
You just want to shout "Enough!".
Oh look a body was found in the muck.
You get tired of hearing about this stuff,
And you know others do too,
But no one is doing anything about it.
And it just makes you feel blue.
Day after day,
Night after night,
It all becomes a dark shade of gray.
The killings no longer come as a shock,
It begins to become a normal thing.
Oh look someone broke in by breaking the lock.
Another body was found today.
Oh my, another body!
They found it down under the dock by the bay.
A mother and her child were killed by a gun,
That poor mother and child.
Someone was surely having fun.
Now it all seems to blend.
Everything fades together.
And we all want to pretend.
We want to pretend it isn't real,
That we aren't used to it,
And then we find out that someone has killed someone by making them into a meal!
It doesn't stop,
It just keeps going.
It's enough to make someone pop.
They keep adding up,
You hear about it every morning,
And the prints were found on a plain white cup.
It does get old after a while,
When you hear about it day after day.
And then you can only shake your head and smile,
For you can't really feel any sadness anymore.
It's all the same to you.
Oh look, someone broke through their door.
Well, someone needs to step up and take a stand,
Someone needs to defend the people.
Someon needs to take a stand and defend this land.
But who?
Who can save us from ourselves?
Who can save us when the sky no longer seems to blue?
