A Devoted Servant

Woke up this morning, feeling full of zest,
ready to provide solace to my grieving boss.
I am a loyal servant hoping to do my best,
to make her life easier and alleviate the loss.
She is full of sorrow and in need of comfort
following the demise of her beloved spouse.
Refuses to forget the death of Prince Albert,
shuts herself off in Windsor or Osborne House.
One other refuge is the castle at Balmoral
where I give a helping hand as a devoted gillie.
Our relationship is rumoured to be immoral
but such a statement is slanderous and silly.
Her daughters joke that I’m ‘Mama’s lover’,
a juvenile jest that displeases the Queen.
There’s no peccadillo that one can discover,
and for impropriety, there has never been.

I like this poem about John
I like this poem about John Brown, it encouraged me to go and read up about him.
The poem revealed a true companion to the Queen, who she could confide in without fear of ridicule.
Nicely done Luigi.
