Morning Love

The botanical name Nigella damascena
is for a plant known as love-in-a-mist
but for me it is reminiscent of my first,
and never forgotten, amorous tryst.
Associated with that attractive flower
Devil in the bush is another epithet.
This specific, alternative, designation
may mean that temptation is a threat.
Hot blood coursed through our veins
and the urge was tangible and strong.
We never gave it a second thought,
didn't think that true love was wrong.
As desire swept over us like a flame,
we osculated, had a lingering snog,
and, at the dawn of an autumnal day,
we succumbed; made love in the fog.

My goodness it must be that
My goodness it must be that Italian passion coming out in your writing Luigi. The name Nigella Damascena certainly is an enchanting name for Love In The Mist. I got quite carried away with your love making in the fog. I actually had a night of passion on Bodmin Moor in the fog myself, it was very eerie because all we had was our sleeping bag, but no tent. I was only about eighteen at the time, but I'll never forget that night.
Very much enjoyed reading your poem, especially as it bought back my own memories...she says blushing.
Jenny. xx
